Updated: 21.11.2023

A dissertation work has been started to develop the Jamkin Future Factory (IT) course (signed), which studies the used project activity environment and the learning that takes place in it. Research is used to develop operating model as a basis for an even better cooperation. The estimated duration of the study is five years and that focuses on the annually organized Jamkin Future Factory (IT) and WIMMA Lab project learning environments and other applicable destinations.

During the study periods, information is collected about the operation of the projects and the development of the students' skills during the projects. An important goal is to identify the factors relevant to the operating environment and at the same time to develop the Jamkin Future Factory (IT) study course forward in a way that utilizes all parties involved.

The information provided by the students is not used to evaluate the course. The personal data of the subjects will be pseudonymised after collecting the material. The research involves a competency survey in the initial phase and a competency survey in the final phase and a detailed survey. Every student is obliged to answer the survey, but it is also completely possible refuse to provide information.

What exactly is it trying to study?

The goal of the research is to find and identify the best practices for organizing the FF/WIMMA Lab project learning environment activities between different stakeholder groups (companies, different educational institutions and students). This field of activity is challenging, but at the same time very interesting as a research object. The size of the student groups and the expansion of the activities still require better knowledge of the operating environment and information for the development of different learning paths.

What information is generally collected?

  • Experiences and observations from representatives of different companies/communities that cooperate with Jamkin Future Factory (IT) projects.
  • At the individual level, the development of different skills during the study period is mapped
  • Information provided by the API interface of the Gitlab service about the activities of the project groups during the study period.
  • Information provided by the Open Project Framework
  • Gitlab API

Informants and sources

  • Students participating in the course
  • Representatives of cooperative companies
  • Future Factoy IT teams and individual level competence development
  • WIMMA Lab teams and individual level competence development
  • Gitlab service
